Kloepfel Motorsports: Cody Kloepfel & Scott Kloepfel

Scott Kloepfel is the crew chief for Kloepfel Motorsports. Over the years he has gotten very good at setting up and changing the kart at the track. He has had a passion for vehicles and speed from a very young age. He has owned offroad motorcycles his whole life, and spent 6 years racing three wheelers at Paradise Speedway very successfully. He previously owned a 1969 Z/28 Camaro which he restored to pristine condition, and has helped many local car enthusiasts with their street car or race car projects.

His decision to get Cody a racing Go Kart in 1998 has led to a tremendous shared learning experience for them both. As Cody developed as a driver, Scott had to learn the very sophisticated process of setting up a Go Kart for competition and fine tuning it each night for the particular conditions the track presents. With hundreds of combinations of adjustments possible the challenge of finding the ideal set up is a continuing one, and a tough one. Scott has faced this challenge head on and excels.

Cody Kloepfel is the driver for Kloepfel Motorsports. He began racing Go Karts in 1998. Cody has developed a very smooth driving style that was evident even at the beginning. He learned to deal with traffic, and how to set up passes, as well as adjusting his driving style for the various tracks and conditions. He has also worked on his ability to relate to his crew chief with what was happening on the track, so that adjustments could be made.

As Cody moved up the ladder of classes and the competition became tougher, communication between Cody and his Crew Chief Scott Kloepfel was increasingly more important. Being able to quickly assess the track conditions and implement changes to optimize the kart was critical. Cody's understanding of what the kart felt like on the track, and how he would like that to change, became increasingly important. This included an ability to assess the condition of the track and to understand and begin to predict how the track would change over the course of the night. Cody continues to improve his driver skills and his communication skills as well.
